A burger doesn’t just mean ground meat in a bun prepared by fast food chains; it’s a great dish that, when made with care and love, delights anyone who enjoys good food. A burger typically consists of ground meat and other ingredients in a special bun that should hold the contents and shape without getting soggy. That’s why most establishments serious about offering quality burgers make their own unique buns. The same goes for the various sauces.

If the meat filling isn’t ground but rather sliced or chopped, we call it a sandwich instead of a burger. Ground beef should ideally be prepared so that it remains pink and juicy in the center. The most flavorful beef burger usually comes from fattier cuts, as fat enhances the taste. Besides beef, lamb, chicken, fish, turkey, and mushroom burgers are also common. However, there are no limits to the creativity of burger fillings, and the current trend is to mix ingredients from various cuisines, such as Asian Fusion. Some fillings, like foie gras, even make burgers suitable for fine dining establishments.
